Work Permit in Turkey: The Easy Way to Obtain

Are you ready to work in Turkey but unsure where to start? The employment of foreigners in Turkey is regulated under the International Workforce Law No. 6735. Work permit applications can be made from within or outside the country, and foreigners holding a valid residence permit for at least six months in Turkey can apply directly.

Documents Required for Employers:

  • Employment contract signed between the foreign worker and the employer.
  • A copy of the Turkish Trade Registry Gazette showing the latest capital and partnership structure of the organization.
  • Balance sheet and profit/loss statement for the last year approved by the tax office or a sworn financial advisor.
  • A document from the relevant institution proving the organization has undertaken the project for international tenders.
  • A payroll showing that Turkish engineers/architects/contractors are employed in the same profession.
  • A notarized power of attorney for the person authorized to make the electronic application or a document showing they work for the organization making the application.
  • A preliminary approval document from the relevant authority for foreigners working in health and education services.

Documents Required for Employees:

  • A copy of the passport.
  • A notarized Turkish translation of the diploma or temporary graduation certificate.
  • A biometric photo.

Criteria for Application Approval:

  • At least five Turkish citizens must be employed at the workplace where the work permit is requested.
  • The employer company’s paid-in capital must be at least 500,000 TL, net sales must be at least 8,000,000 TL, or the last year’s export amount must be at least 150,000 USD.
  • The salary level of the foreign employee must be appropriate for the position.
