The consultation

Thirty to sixty minutes with the lawyer who would handle the matter, not an assistant. It runs on WhatsApp voice call or Microsoft Teams video call whichever you already use so there is no new software to install.

Some consultations are chargeable and some are not. It depends on what you are asking for, and it is decided before you commit to anything.

Advice you can act on

Reading a court decision, checking a case file, or giving an opinion you will act on is legal work, and legal work is charged for. Which of the two your matter needs is decided once we have read it.

Sending the form is always free, and it gets a real answer from a lawyer rather than an automatic acknowledgement.
If a fee applies, you are told the amount before anything is booked. Nobody is charged without agreeing to the figure first.
Where the matter goes ahead and it is appropriate, the consultation fee may be credited against the case fee.

Attorney fees in Turkey have a published floor. The Avukatlık Asgari Ücret Tarifesi — the Minimum Attorney Fee Tariff — is issued once a year by the Union of Turkish Bar Associations, and no lawyer may charge below it. Any figure we quote is set against that tariff and given to you in writing before you decide.

What to have ready

Fifteen minutes spent gathering these before the call is the difference between a general answer and a specific one.

Anything official you have received

A court decision, a notice from the police or from the migration authority, a tax notice, a letter from a bank. A photograph taken on your phone is enough, and it does not need translating first.
The dates

When it happened, when you were told, and any date you have been given to reply by. Turkish law runs on time limits, and the date on the paper often decides what can still be done.
Anything you have already signed

A contract, a settlement, or a power of attorney a document that authorises someone to act for you. If you signed something you did not fully understand, say so.

Is the consultation free?

Sometimes. If your question can be answered in a reply, there is no charge. Advice you can act on — reading a decision, checking a case file, an opinion you will rely on — is legal work and is charged for. Either way, the amount is given to you before anything is booked, and sending the form is always free.

Can you advise me if I am not in Turkey?

Yes. You do not need to be in Turkey, and many matters are handled without you travelling here. The consultation runs on WhatsApp or Microsoft Teams, at a time in your own time zone. Court and official work can usually be done under a power of attorney a document signed at a Turkish consulate that lets a lawyer act for you.

What happens on the call, and how long is it?

It runs 30 to 60 minutes, with the lawyer rather than an assistant. You explain what happened, we ask the questions that decide the outcome such as dates, documents, who did what and you get a straight answer on where you stand and what the options are. It is held on WhatsApp voice call or Microsoft Teams video call.

Which languages do you work in?

English and Turkish. Consultations are normally held in English. Correspondence with courts and authorities is handled in Turkish by us, so you are not left translating anything. If another language would suit you better, say so in the form and we will tell you what can be arranged.

How soon can we speak?

Your enquiry is read the same day and answered with whether we can help. If we can, a time is offered within one working day, set in your own time zone. If you have a hearing date or a deadline running, put it in the form so we see it at once.
