Who we are

An Antalya law firm acting for foreign nationals and Turkish clients

Kaymaz Law Firm acts before Turkish courts, notaries, land registries and migration authorities from its office in Antalya. It works in English and Turkish.

Clients who live abroad instruct the firm on a power of attorney and follow their file in writing. Clients in Antalya can meet personally.

How the firm works

Five arrangements that apply to every file, set out as the questions a client asks before instructing a lawyer in another country.

  • Do I have to come to Turkey?

Usually not. If you live outside Turkey, the firm can act for you on a power of attorney (in Turkish, vekâletname) signed where you are: at a Turkish consulate, before a local notary with an apostille, or through consular legalisation. The firm drafts the wording before you sign, because the document has to name every act you authorise. Each route is explained in the guide to issuing a power of attorney abroad.

  • Which language will you use with me?

English or Turkish, for letters, calls, updates and document summaries. For other languages, the firm works with sworn translators and brings one in when a matter needs it. Filings with Turkish courts and authorities are made in Turkish, and you are told which of your own documents need a sworn translation.

  • Who goes to the hearing?

Att. Ahmet Kaymaz or a lawyer working with us, in person. Filings at the Provincial Directorate of Migration Management and signings at the land registry are handled the same way, under your power of attorney. The few matters that need you there yourself are identified before you instruct us.

  • How will I know what has happened?

After each hearing, filing or official decision you receive a written update, with the document attached and a plain explanation of what it changes for you.

  • When will I learn the fee?

Before the appointment. Whether a first consultation is charged depends on what it involves. If it is, you are told the amount first, and nothing is charged without your agreement. Fees are set with reference to the Attorneyship Minimum Fee Tariff, published each year by the Union of Turkish Bar Associations.

Who the firm works with

Two groups of clients, with different starting points.

Foreign nationals

People living in Turkey on a residence permit, people who own or have inherited property here, and people who have never lived in Turkey but have a case, a debt, an investment or a family matter in the country. What they have in common is a matter decided in Turkey under Turkish law, wherever they happen to live. Clients the firm has represented include nationals of:

  • United States
  • United Kingdom
  • Germany
  • Denmark

Turkish clients

Individuals and companies with matters before the courts, enforcement offices and authorities in Antalya: property and tenancy, debt collection, criminal cases, inheritance and company work.

Tell the firm what has happened

Describe your matter in a short enquiry. A lawyer replies within one working day. Sending it costs nothing, and if a consultation would carry a fee, you are told the amount before anything is booked.
